How to take vivid color pictures without bright sunlight?
I’ve got a digital photography project, however it’s been cloudy all week and because it’s nearly winter, there is nearly no sunlight past 5:00, the time I get home. I have to take pictures of things like complimentary colors, monochromatic colors, analogous, etc. However, my shutter speed is like 1″ or 1/30 at MOST. We can not use flash and my settings are on auto… it has to be in sharp focus, so I like to overuse the macro function tee hee. …
but… how can I manage to take a great photo of color scheme based pictures indoors?! Is there some way to adjust little thingamajiggers to make the photo less washed out, dull, and faded?
Monochromatic is easy – just shoot the grey day outdoors.
Indoors, if you can’t use flash then you’ll have to provide some other supplementary light – a good strong desk lamp should do it. Try using two – one either side of the object to cross light it. If its an incandescent lamp, I suggest setting the camera to tungsten white balance.
Surely if you’re doing a photography course you should be shooting on manual, not Auto. – Isn’t that defeating the object?
