Photography contest?
I’m looking for online amateur photography contests?
I’m an amateur photographer and I want to enter an amateur contest but it can only be ones that have no entry fee (i’m only 13.) Also here’s the link to my website so i’d appreciate your thoughts and comments! freewebs.com/angelsphotographywebsite
Thanks in advance!
First of all, be very very careful of scams!
There are lots of free contests out there that make you feel like a winner, just to end up with your money. They’re very very convincing.
A popular example: You submit your photo to a contest that is making a book of all the winners. However long later, you are contacted that your photo had (these great qualities) and they are going to publish it in the book with the other winners. They tell you that if you buy the book now, it’s a reduced rate. (Usually something like $50!) If you wait until the specified deadline, the price goes up at least $10 or more. On top of that, if you want your name and any details published with the photo, that will also cost you. You can also order a plack or certificate of award. Even if you don’t buy the book, your photo will still be published. But it’s very convincing to buy it because most likely it’s your first time to be published and you’d really like proof to show off! However, this book is simply a private coffee book. It is not “published”. Only printed and bought by you.
In that case, you might as well make your OWN book with ALL of your own photos. It’s much cheaper.

A good free contest can be found at
http://www.soaphoto.com.
You can submit one photo per day, and a certain amount per month. Other users vote and comment on your photos. There is a ranking system so when your photos earn votes, your rank goes up. Higher ranks can cast votes that are worth more points.
The prize is different and there are three opportunities. You can be the all-over winner, a category winner, or an editor’s top pick. Cameras are usually given as prizes. Even if you don’t need or want the camera, you could always sell it for cash if you win.
