What are my chances of getting into NYU?
I’m a senior in HS. I’m interested in majoring in art history.
GPA: 4.0 unweighted, 4.6 weighted
SAT I: 1990 (taken twice)
SAT IIs: 670 literature, 660 Math 2, 630 Spanish.
Extracurriculars: President of Photo Club, Youth Representative at my church, and Historian of NHS. I’ve won many photography awards as well as academic awards. I volunteer a lot at the library and with church.
Background: female, white middle class family, from California
I want to go to NYU because it has a great art history program and it’s close to the Met, where I want to intern.
Do you think I could get in? What could I do to boost my chances? Thanks!
I attend a public school that doesn’t rank, but I’m in at least the top 10% of my class.
You definitely have a shot. But your scores are not stellar, so you need to make your application and your essay really awesome. I think being from California might help you out.
Something to consider in your application. Make sure you mention the art history program and the Met. And do your homework and look up big-shot professors and classes and programs, and mention them in your application.
