Photography Day Rate

competitive photography day rate?

I’m trying to get feedback on how to go about fixing a competitive day rate. I’m relatively new to this type of pricing so I wanted to get response on what’s a solid competitive rate for a semi-pro photographer.. What things should be factored in to the price (aside from time, editing, travel)?

I have also heard licensing/rights should be negotiated separately – is this true or can it be rolled into the total price? In this particular case it would be for a magazine where they will be priting the images with each issues (columnist photographs).

Any experitse that can be offered is greatly appreciate. Thanks!

You should not be using “Day Rates” unless you are talking about event photography.

And yes, usage rights should be factored in separate from everything else, but it is ok to present a client with just the total.
