Looks
The giant 4″ touch screen of the Sony Ericsson X10 covers almost the entire front of the phone. It sure is a rather large (119mmx63mm and 13mm thin) device, but the design is simple and tight. Shiny metal accents, round corners and the back is made of fingerprint-resistant plastic. Here you”ll also find the lens with a LED-flash under it. The Xperia X10 is available in white and black.
Usability
The large screen responds quick and smooth to the light pressure of your fingers. There are several pressure points and there are three buttons under the screen: Menu, home and back. You can activate the camera on the right, where the volume button is also located. When the camera is on, this volume button can be used to zoom. Some things may look intimidating, but you”ll master the X10 fast and with ease.
Screen
The 4″ screen of the X10 is one of the largest around at the moment. With a 480×854 resolution it”s possible to watch widescreen movies through the 16:9 option. In high quality of course, and thanks to the anti-reflection you can make the most of the screen in the sun as well.
Internet
Every GSM-network is usable with the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. So, it”s possible to call, text and use email all over the world. Watch out for those costs abroad though! The connection is fast and works everywhere. Email, multimedia, browsing and social networking: always and everywhere possible. Just as easy with, where available, wi-fi!
Google Android
The Xperia X10 works with Google”s popular Android. Through the Android market you”ve got access to Gmail, navigation and countless amounts of apps and games. And you don”t need to wait for anything.
Multimedia
When it comes to multimedia, the X10 is an absolute winner. The amzing sound quality and the large screen turn movies and music into a party. Any media format is accepted, and a cool detail is that you can plug in your own set of headphones. So you don”t need to stuff those tiny monsters up your ears, you can actually enjoy the sounds that come out! The internal memory is 1GB, but you can extend this to 16GB with a MicroSD card (you”ll find one of 8GB in the box).
Social networks
With all those social networks around it”s difficult to stay up to date. Sony Ericsson has found a solution with their Timescape app. All your networks are organized and located in one location. Post updates, photos or movies on (already installed) Twitter, Facebook and Hyves. That last one is a sign the X10 is focused on the Dutch market as any other. Through Mediascape you can arrange and organize all your media files, and send them to Flickr or Facebook with the flick of your wrist.
Camera and extras
The camera of the Xperia X10 is a stunning 8 megapixel. The main standard nowadays is 5, so there. Face recognition, stabilization, LED-flash, auto focus: it”s all there so you really don”t need to bring that loose camera anymore. There”s also GPS, so after a night session (not a problem with this baby) of photography you won”t get lost finding your way back home.
