Wedding Photography – You Really Do Get What You Pay For by Richard
When my husband and I got married, I was determined to have a real photographer, as it was the biggest day of my life, but I was also determined not to spend too much money on our wedding. We looked into several different photographers, and ended up choosing one recommended by a friend of mine.She had a very good portfolio, and was in our budget range, meaning she was willing to stip down packages offered by her low enough for us to meet our budget needs. But there were a couple problems. For one thing, our actual ceremony was in a city four hours away, and she couldn’t make it for the money we were willing to pay. We couldn’t have pictures of the ceremony, but we wanted pictures taken outside in my wedding dress and his suit. An aunt ended up taking pictures for us there, which were nice, but not professional quality.
She eneded up going ot our reception but, the photographer ended up having a second commitment the day of our reception (because she needed to make money during her busy season), so she was unable to stay with us for the whole time. We had to take pictures in the middle of the reception in order to get all the family shots we wanted. She did come a little early so we could get some bridal shots done, but even that made our day even busier. Wedding is a really complecated event as it is, last thing you want to do is stop your uncle in a middle of his toas, and ask everybody to go take a picture with you. But we were on the budget and photographer had to leave so we ened up trying to get as many pictures done as possible.
On the plus side the pictures that were taken by the professional photographer turned out very well, they were beautiful. But looking back, I think I would have extended my budget and picked a different photographer who would maybe charge more, but could be there for every part of the wedding. My wedding day was a beautiful day, the most wonderful day of my life, and it deserved to be documented properly. I still have some of the memories that are document, but looking back at it I really do wish I would have taken a lot more pictures. The money come and go, but you could never buy back the time.
That is why my one regret for that wedding was not coming up with the money to pay for a photographer who could be there the whole time. The pictures I did get from the photographer were worth the money I paid for them, and I only wish I had gotten the same quality pictures of the whole event. If I could do it all over again, I would have paid what was needed to get the photos I wanted. But unfortunately it is too late for me.
