Third, get some basic skills by enrolling in basic photography courses. Many major cities offer short courses on how to enhance the look of the subject at affordable prices. Preparation for a photo shoot should be considered here. The style of clothing to be worn and the color combination can be the key to your success here. Many people would look great by wearing solid colored clothes. Try out different colors to know which one would suit you best. Avoid wearing clothes with too much design, like crazy prints. These clothes will not draw the attention to the face of the subject, but make the viewer focus on the shirt being worn instead.
Fourth, make sure that your hairstyle matches the shape of your face. The hair is considered as our crowning glory. It plays a vital role in enhancing our appearance. The kind of hairstyle we have can either make or break the way we look. If your face is rather wide, it’s best to wear your hair down. This approach minimizes the size of your face so that it will look more proportional. On the other hand, if your face is small, it’s a good idea to tie it up. When it comes to big foreheads, bangs can make them smaller.
Fifth, consider the posture when a picture is taken – would it be better to sit or to just stand? Improving your posture can do the trick in improving the outcome of the photo shoot. If your posture is good, you will look thinner in the photo. Do not discount the use of some make up. Cosmetics have been proven to improve and augment the face and facial features. This applies to both men and women, although the men should use them in the minimum and just as needed.
And the last, but not the least, practice your smile. It can be said that this is the most important thing to do when you want to have a picture taken. Your smile will brighten the photo. See yourself on the mirror to determine which smile looks best on you. Would it be better to show some teeth, to have the mouth open, or just have a slight smile with the mouth closed? Your smile would also depend on what personality you would want to project.
