The lady artist works as a gallery director at the art center along with being a working artist. To evoke dark logs and branches rising from water, she uses blues and reds. She adds bits of red not visible on the photograph to enhance the section of her painting that she wants to emphasize. She says that at certain times you should ponder over the color values. You would not want to use way too much light that soon. One does not need to worry about conserving white areas like in water colors and can layer lighter values over darker ones in pastel painting. You should feel your pastels with an ease.
The color range should be used carefully as per her. Without having to mix different shades, one can get the right color by using today’s wide range of colors. Pastels allow the artist to wipe the color off and start over again if they do not like the result. The medium is rather easy.
